It's 1 month before your IGCSE or A Level exams. You sit down to study, feel overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content, and suddenly find yourself scrolling TikTok for two hours. This is exam paralysis.
1. The 5-Minute Rule
Tell yourself you will only study for 5 minutes. No commitment beyond that. Just 5 minutes of opening a past paper on RevisionGrid. Once the 5 minutes are up, you are free to stop. 90% of the time, the hardest part is just starting, and you'll find yourself continuing once the friction of starting is gone.
2. Break It Down
'Study Biology' is a terrible goal. It's too vague. 'Do Paper 42 May/June 2022' is a specific, actionable goal. Break your massive syllabus into tiny, actionable chunks.
3. Change Your Environment
Your bed is for sleeping. Your brain associates it with rest. Go to a library, a cafe, or just a different room. A new environment can reset your focus completely.
Remember, action creates motivation, not the other way around. Start small, and the momentum will build.
