University Policies
Before retaking A Levels, check your target universities. Some top universities (like Oxford or Cambridge) prefer students who achieve their grades in a single sitting and may view retakes less favorably, unless there were extenuating circumstances. Most other universities, however, do not care and will accept your highest grade.
Why Did You Fail?
If you retake without changing your study habits, you will get the exact same grade. You must identify the root cause:
- Did you not do enough past papers?
- Did you have a conceptual gap?
- Did you panic?
