The Secret to an A* in IGCSE Biology (0610)

IGCSE Biology is infamous for the sheer volume of memorization required. From the digestive system to genetic engineering, it feels endless.

1. Diagrams are Cheat Codes

Never try to memorize a paragraph of text explaining the heart. Memorize the diagram. If you can draw and label the heart from memory, you can easily translate that into a 6-mark written answer in the exam.

2. Key Terms are Mandatory

In Biology, close enough is not good enough. You cannot say 'the plant gets water'. You must say 'water is absorbed by root hair cells via osmosis'. Create a glossary of key terms for every chapter.

3. Paper 6 (Alternative to Practical)

Paper 6 is the easiest paper to score marks on if you know the rules. You must know how to draw a graph properly (axes labeled with units, take up more than 50% of the grid, smooth line of best fit). You must also know the standard tests (Benedict's, Biuret, Iodine, Ethanol emulsion).

Use RevisionGrid to practice Paper 4s and Paper 6s back-to-back.
